Top Four Reasons For Choosing A Natural Health Remedy for Your Child

More children are on medication today than any other time in our history.
The facts alone point to this trend:
  •  1 out of 4 kids today are on a regularly prescribed pharmaceutical drug (source: "Four Things Every Parent Should Know", Dr. Stephen Chaney, 2011)
  • In 2008, the CDC reported that 2 out of the 4 most commonly used drugs were for children's asthma and stimulant drugs for adolescents. (source: Prescription Drug Use Continues to Increase: U.S. Prescription Drug Data for 2007-2008, CDC.gov, Sept 2010)
This drug increase does not seem to be helping to improve the health of our kids. It is only getting worse. More children are struggling with weight issues than ever before, and allergies in the school classrooms are becoming more and more common, just to name a few.
A natural remedy can be a helpful alternative for families wanting to see some different results.
1. To Avoid unwanted side effects
All medications come with side effects--some more obvious or serious than others. I heard recently that for every person taking a prescription medication, they are also taking at least one additional medication to treat it's side effects. The same is undoubtedly true for our kids.
For example, conventional treatments for ADHD/ADD, also known as psychostimulant drugs, have a wide range of side effects in kids. Most children have issues with insomnia and loss of appetite. These two areas alone rob children of the most beneficial methods the body uses to heal and repair the brain--sleep and proper nutrition.
We know several children on regular allergy medications as well, and they consistently exhibit lack of energy and large dark circles underneath the eyes.
Side effects may also come from regularly used over-the-counter treatments. Just pick up a bottle of children's medicine and read the warnings. These grave warnings simply don't exist when utilizing a nutritional healing approach. (I can see it now, "Warning: Too much vitamin C will increase the response of your immune system and might reduce some unknown inflammation.")
Prescription antibiotics also pose an insidious threat to the long-term health of our kids. While knocking out an infection, they also serve to wipe out the immune support system, leaving kids vulnerable to repeat infections and worse: candida overgrowth.
2. To Avoid Ineffective Treatment
Not all medical treatments or over the counter drugs are proven to be effective 100% of the time.
Children's cough and cold remedies are very slow to work (if they work effectively at all), whereas an effective herbal remedy can work within minutes and hours.
Antibiotic mis-use and overuse has caused many bacterial strains to adapt and become resistant to treatment.
It is not uncommon for people to undergo several different antibiotics to treat one strain of a flu virus before they find one that works. This trial and error could take weeks. Meanwhile, the pain and discomfort continue to linger and/or get worse.
The benefit of a proper all-natural remedy is that it works every time. The bacteria never build up a resistance to herbs or nutrients.
We use an infection "bomb" in our home that works on every single infection, no matter the cause or location. What a relief when you have kids in your home!
3. To Aid and stimulate healing
The conventional medical approach deals mainly with managing symptoms, not with actual healing at the root cause of the issue.
For example:
  • Allergy shots to reduce body's response to allergens
  • Acetaminophen to bring a fever down or take away pain.
  • Antacids to reduce digestive discomfort.
  • Creams and lotions to soothe irritated skin and rashes.
Those are all "management" solutions.
Our medical system has become great at treating symptoms but further away from the original intent of medicine which was to heal the body. (see: Hippocrates, the father of western medicine)
A natural, nutritional approach is more holistic in nature. The goal is to support the body's natural processes of healing, regeneration, and cellular repair.
4. To Save Time and Money
With a natural treatment from home, you no longer have to sit in doctors' offices or spend time hunting down several different specialists. No extra time out of school. No additional hours lost at work.
An effective natural solution that aids healing can ward off future surgeries or long-term medical treatments that may otherwise be incurred.
It is true that everything comes with a cost. It is our choice whether we pay now to invest in better health or pay later for unhealthy alternatives that really don't work.
Natural remedies can work miracles in children, whose bodies are already growing, responding, and metabolizing at a much faster rate than ours.

Help To Stop Thinking About Food All Of The Time

As soon as you think you shouldn't do something you feel an inexorable pull towards the very thing that you are trying to avoid. It is an inevitable fact of life due to the way in which your mind works.
Thus, whenever you either want to lose weight or avoid certain food types for varying reasons you most often find that your mind becomes fixated with those foods. It often seems that the end result is that you crave and eat those foods more than before and an opposite effect happens than that which you set out to achieve.
This, needless to say, can be an incredibly frustrating experience. The harder you try to not do whatever it is the more you want to do it and a tough battle ensues.
The person involved in this tussle ends up coming to one of two conclusions. Either they decide that they have no will power at all and simply cannot stop thinking about food or eating those food types, or they take a step back and decide that their must be a different way in which to tackle the issue.
Thus if you do manage to stick to your plans and avoid those foods you will usually find that you are the exception to the rule. Hence when I went to see my doctor about a high cholesterol issue, she was very surprised that I had stuck to a different eating plan and reduced my LDL cholesterol level significantly.
The "wanting what you shouldn't have" syndrome is actually only a symptom of the way in which you are thinking and focusing. If you were to turn your thoughts around and think instead about what you do want (to be slim, fit or healthy) this change of focus makes your goals far more easily achievable.
How you think, and the emotions that your thoughts elicit, powers the way in which you act. When you think about the things you are meant to avoid, your emotions inevitably become focused upon wanting exactly those things that you are not meant to have. If you alternatively think about what you really, really want and focus closely upon being fit, healthy and well, then the associated emotion drives you towards that goal.
I frequently find myself marveling over the fact that rather than learning new ways of eating, what is more important is actually learning how to think differently.
Thoughts create emotions that in turn trigger actions. These days, most of us know what we should be eating and the food groups that are considered good, bad or indifferent. Fewer of us know how to control our thought processes, and these are relevant to everything in life, not just diet.
Hypnosis is a great tool to employ when you want to step back and see things from a different angle. Hypnosis allows you to relax and refocus, as well as to access your inner thought and habit processes. If you really want to think about things differently or change any habits you will undoubtedly find the process easier with the help of hypnosis.

4 Best Weight Loss Tips For Women

If you want to learn how to lose weight and better your health you have come to the right place. Below I am going to share with you four simple tips you can use to start losing weight and get in the best shape of your life now.
Take Nutritional Supplements
Nutritional supplements are necessary and very beneficial. And when combined with healthy eating, you have yourself a recipe for weight loss success. It is very difficult to get all the nutrients your body needs from food alone. That's why you must combine good nutrition with nutritional supplements. The one supplement everyone women should take is a good multi vitamin. It will ensure your body gets all the nutrients it needs so you can get out there and lose the weight.
Eat Healthy
When it comes to losing weight and nutrition is the most important aspect. Without proper nutrition you will never lose a pound. As the saying goes, you are what you eat. If you eat bad things, you will be unhealthy and overweight. You eat good things, you would have the body that you've always wanted.
So starting right now, make a conscious effort to start eating healthy. It's not easy. But if you really want to lose weight it must begin. Some of the good foods you should add in your diet are chicken, fish, vegetables, nuts, berries, peanut butter, olive oil, and whole grains just to name a few. As you start to gradually change your eating habits, you will start to see major improvements in the way your body looks.
Start Exercising
Exercises is a vital part of losing weight. However, it is not as important as eating right. You see, you can work out 4 hours a day but if your diet isn't right you will never lose weight. So don't use exercise as an excuse to eat whatever you want. It doesn't work that way. Exercising is what will get you over that hump and to the body that you want.
And besides losing weight, there are many other benefits to exercise. You should aim to do at least 30 minutes of cardio three times a week. If you can, do more. You should also do strength training. Lifting weights will not bulk you up. Most women think it will. But it won't. What it will do is help you increase your metabolism and burn more fat while you're at rest.
Get Plenty Of Rest
If you truly want to maximize the amount of weight you lose, you need to get plenty of rest every night. Getting good rest every night is vital to your weight loss success. Sleep helps your body heal, replenish and get ready for the next day. Every night you should aim to get at least 7 hours of sleep. When your body gets plenty of rest, you will be able to workout harder and ultimately lose more weight.

Ways in Which Food Affects Your Mood

Everything you put in your mouth has an effect on your body whether good or bad. If you want to keep your mood up and feel happy, there are many things you need to know about what foods to eat. This article explores some of those foods and what they can do for your mood.
What you eat does affect your happiness! Food is what fuels everything about your body and what you eat controls your body from head to toe! Food is directly linked to three areas of brain function that create our ability to be happy! The first is the capacity to think, focus, plan, and remember or what is called "foods for thought." The second is the regulation of our emotions or foods for good mood. The third is the ability to control anxiety and the power to push through to a deadline, etc; foods for brain energy. Yes, what you eat does control all these parts of your life. Here are some ways you can control these areas.
*Cut back on eating processed foods. Most processed foods are loaded with sugar. Too much sugar contributes to shrinkage of key brain areas involved in the regulation of our moods.
*Eat more whole-grains, vegetables, and fruits. Plant foods contain minerals and phytonutrients that are scientifically known as the "Essential Elements of Happiness." These consist of vitamins A, B12, D, E, Folate, iodine, magnesium, calcium, iron, fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids. These are substances the brain needs to function optimally.
*Opt for grass-fed meats whenever possible. Grass fed meat typically has more omega-3s. Omega-3s promote formation of new brain connections.
*Eat a variety of whole foods. Branch out and eat healthy foods you may not particularly enjoy or are not used to. Keep variety in your diet so you don't "burn out" on the healthy foods you do eat. Remember this; the greater range of whole foods you eat, the broader the range of brain-boosting nutrients your diet will contain to help your brain keep you happy! And after all, we all want to be happy!!
Did you ever think anything as simple as an egg could be a key to your happiness? If not, you should! Scientists tell us the If you wanted to create the perfect brain food, you would find most of what you need in the egg. Here is a list of these "happiness" compounds found in the egg:
*Vitamin B12 - This vitamin is crucial for the nerve cells so being deficient in vitamin B12 causes irritability, depression, and cognitive decline!
*Folate - Needed to keep the brains neurotransmitter factories operating properly.
*Iodine - Iodine is essential for proper thyroid functioning. This is important because a underactive thyroid causes lethargy, depression, and weight gain. And weight gain also has an effect on happiness or lack there of, for sure!
*Vitamin D - When your supply of vitamin D gets low, chances for depression, dementia, PMS all increase and who wants to let that happen!
The above list is only a partial nutritional list of the egg, but it is the main nutrition in the egg that does play a role in your happiness! There are many other foods that also contribute. I will post another article in a day or so discussing those foods.
Stay Happy!

Weight Loss Tips That Anyone Can Use

Losing weight is a common battle that is fought by individuals all across the world. Weight loss really needs to be viewed as a journey, and not one "quick fix" tip that will make the pounds melt away. When you view it as a journey, you learn to take the right steps, and those steps ultimately lead to weight loss success that can last a lifetime. Here are a few tips to help get you started on your journey.
The first necessary step on your journey is to take inventory of your pantry and refrigerator. While you are establishing your inventory, take the time to throw away the stuff that is not healthy. While it is okay to keep one or two splurge treats in the house, if your pantry is full of them, you will always turn to them. Instead of filling your home with cookies and cakes, make it a priority to have lots of fruits and vegetables cut up and ready to eat. This is a great way to get yourself off to a great start.
Another important step is to change the way that you eat. Instead of consuming two or three large meals a day, try to eat five or six small meals a day. Carefully consider what types of foods those meals consist of and only eat until you are comfortably satisfied. This type of eating allows you to always feel full, and it can reduce cravings and spontaneous binges that involve unhealthy junk food.
While you are eating those five or six small meals a day, make sure to take your time eating each one. Shoveling food in your mouth does not give your stomach the opportunity to talk to your brain and let it know you are full. This often means you eat more than you actually need to and increase your overall caloric intake. Take a break between each bite and put your fork down. Sip on water while you eat too. Make it a goal to take at least twenty to thirty minutes to eat each of your three main meals, and try to consume your snacks in no less than ten to fifteen minutes.
In addition to changing your daily eating habits, you also need to address the reason that you are eating. Food should be used to satisfy hunger. It is not meant to be a reward, and it should not be eaten because you are feeling sad and looking for some sort of comfort. If you are eating for these reasons, and many individuals do, it can be beneficial to speak with a weight loss counselor, therapist or psychologist.
Finally, take some time to write your journey down in a food journal. Jot down what you are eating, how you are feeling and why you are eating. Also take some time to make note of how you feel after a meal or snack. Writing things down gives you something to look back on. It can help you to learn where you are making mistakes and what areas you are doing well at improving. It is also a beneficial tool to share with your counselor or therapist if you are using one.
Winning the weight loss battle takes some time and effort, but if you view it as a journey the steps involved will start to make sense. This is the best way to find long term success in the battle of the bulge.

Healthy Weight Loss Articles

In most healthy weight loss articles that you read it seems the trends focus on cutting out fats and lowering your carbohydrates. Which are all fine and good, but there is a lot that seems to missing in between. I believe that most of the time our health is not really focused on as much as the weight loss itself. You can lose the weight and still be unhealthy.
So in healthy weight loss articles there needs a balance. Just because someone can get the pounds off by going on a low fat, low carbohydrate diet doesn't mean that they are healthy. I have lost weight doing these diets and felt so weak at times and not very healthy.
What is the answer? I believe the answer is we simply don't get the vitamins our bodies need. It's not that losing the weight is bad that's good, but we can deplete ourselves from the nutrients we need if we are not supplementing. This is so important especially as we get older and are past our childbearing years. Time has a way of telling us we need more of something in our bodies that we aren't getting.
Yes, I think that eating healthier can be done by the things I mentioned earlier. It's better for your heart, joints and every facet of your body. The facts are we need extra help that's where vitamins are so important. We need healthy weight loss articles to educate people on the facts and issues of healthier lifestyles. Not quick fixes where we lose 30 pounds and gain back 50. No there is enough of that just look around and I bet you see people that have done it. We need not only a good meal plan, but also added health products that will keep our bodies from diseases.
I have personally taken vitamins for the last 7 years and can say that very little have I been in the doctor's office. I can also testify that good quality vitamins help me not feel as hungry. I believe this is because my body is getting what it needs every day. I have personally been on a product for 6 weeks and have more energy than I've had in years. I eat right and drink 2 delicious shakes a day and I'm losing weight, but I am getting healthier because of all the vitamins in the product. Life is short and being healthy helps us to live a much happier life and isn't that what we all want. Get started today and enjoy a healthier happier life.
